What's the most memorable thing you've done in Brooklyn lately? Don't answer until you've visited The Poetry Brothel. The Poetry Brothel is a unique and immersive poetry event that takes poetry outside classrooms and lecture halls and places it in the lush interiors of a bordello.
http://www.playbill.com/video Creator-writer-director Cynthia von Buhler weaves family history into "Speakeasy Dollhouse: The Bloody Beginning," an interactive and immersive theatrical experience where each guest participates as a character in the story. Based on her grandparents' experiences owning two speakeasies in Prohibition-era New York City, the production features secret bookshelf passageways, burlesque dancers, adultery and, of course, murder.
A steampunk collaboration of prohibitionistic proportions, Bathtub Jen and the Henchmen sneak you into their world of slapstick, stand-up, and vaudeville. Follow Jersey's finest speakeasy entrepreneur/bootlegging hoodlum Bathtub Jen and her curmudgeonly Russian ex-con husband Ivan as they embark on poorly judged money-making schemes, kvetch about erotic sessions gone awry, and stay one step ahead of bumbling Police Commissioner Kelly.
